No they don't have a pond. There is one though in a park about 5 mins from where we are.Jacksparrow wrote: Sat May 02, 2020 8:20 pmDo your neighbours have pond?Savannah wrote: Sat May 02, 2020 5:10 pm I saw 2 ducks by my neighbours garden bench, they were there yesterday too. Re: WHAT I SAW TODAY.....
Not seen any here in a few years now. Though I only had them in winter. Great spot placi.
Re: WHAT I SAW TODAY.....
Yesterday actually ...... lovely sunlit evening - and a heron landed on the roof of a house just over from me. Watched it for about 10 minutes and it did not move a muscle. I had to go in the end so I don't know how long it stayed.
Have seen that before but it must be 10 years ago. Quite a sight.
Moonlit night and by a chance in a million I watched a quite large fox on my front lawn. It lifted its head, presumably testing the air, and trotted off quite quickly as if with a destination in mind.

Re: WHAT I SAW TODAY.....
I think the wildlife is quite enjoying lockdown. Suddenly their world is a quieter place. Herons need no invitation as I have found out. A pond, however small, seems irresistable to them. Ferdinand is probably a regular visitor
Re: WHAT I SAW TODAY.....
Ferdinand the heron ???
I've heard of Heron of Alexandria but Ferdy the heron - no
I imagine lockdown is a blessed relief to our wildlife - maybe the robins aren't singing at 3 am in the cities at the moment.
