REALLY USEFUL COMPUTER TIPS

On Monday morning my computer sort of jammed - started up for 5 seconds, then went blank and would not move.
Rang my new (very helpful) computer fixer and he told me to press the power button for 5 seconds, then switch off. Switch on again and all should be fine.
I did and it was .
Don't know what was wrong but that's all it took to fix a seemingly sick computer.

I've never had that particular problem but I will try and remember your little tip should it ever occur . It must be wonderful to know what you're doing with pooters.

That's interesting I've always had to take the battery out to get mine to 'defrost".

That's what I usually do, Nuthatch. Remove the battery and re-insert it, then things are OK.
However, this time that didn't work so I rang The Man and that was his tip, which worked first time.
What I'm clumsily saying is, I'm not certain that the battery removal thing is the same as the press the start button thing. I reckon it was a different problem, but I don't know what the problem was.

Another thing though - The Man could have arrived on the doorstep, messed around for an hour, pressed the button and then charged me megabucks. Fair do's.

It's definitely worth remembering though.
