Board attachment quota has Benn reached.

Post by Bobs_Retired »

Hi, I have just tried to make a post and add a couple of images but have received the message
"Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached".
Is that something that applies only tome or to the Board overall?

Seems to be across the board as I just tried to add a couple of pics to get same message. I don't think the site can handle many photos and am sure I read they have had this problem before and they have to go in and delete ancient ones. I believe I also read it can hand links better from likes of Flickr than actual uploads of pics straight to here.

I wondered that, given that the most you can add is 3 images anyway. I may give linking to Flickr a go and see how that works.

Linking to Flickr seems to be working ok for me. Mind you I don't think I post more than one or two photos per post anyway.

If you use the BBCode option from the flickr share menu that works well. I use the Medium (500x334) size option. It displays the photo with I believe that no data is stored on this server. You can add additional text at the same time.

We're VERY close to our server limits.

We're running at 90+% on server space but there is 50mb of headroom on the attachment quota which is a reasonable amount. It's been 350Mb total for several years.

I'll up it a little bit and remove some of the oldest ones on the list.
I tend to use an image host like flickr or imgur. That latter is good because you just drag and drop your picture and it'll even give you the BBcode forum link to copy/paste it in to the board and then it uses no quota and no bandwidth.

So if us who are not on other image hosts continue to just upload then we are just gonna keep causing a jam! Sadly a won't be joining any hosting sites so I may have to say thanks for having me for the short time av been on 🫤

I think Kev is suggesting that those who want to post a high volume would be better served using a hosting site whereas someone like yourself would be OK to carry on as you are. It would be a great shame if we were to lose your attendance.

Aww thanks but I do like to post a lot of pics from time to time when I go on outings , I have just downloaded almost 10k from RSPB that I had uploaded over the past 7 or 8 years ...a think 🤔 so that kinda shows you how much I actually post.
