Was by the pond at the hotel today. Missed the heron again but got closer to the mandarin duck. Few mallards in the mix as well.

It is interesting there are no female Mandarins. They're either sitting on eggs somewhere are those two are bachelors.

Jacksparrow, I don't think the mandarins belong in that pond. Farther down from the hotel are a few houses. One has an even bigger pond with lots of nest boxes. I reckon that is where the ducks came from. I have even seen them down in the stream.
