Lovely picture Mike! Very clear and in focus!!
I have had a new visitor to my garden. I have had a Gold Crest. Many of you may have these on a regular basis, but until this week I have never seen one in my garden. Also I have had 2 Sparrows - a male and a female. They are new to my garden too. I have seen them up the road from my many times over the years but they haven't ventured into my garden much before this winter. They are quite regular these days.

, Squirrel !!
I saw a goldcrest once - it certainly isn't something one ever forgets.
Glad that the sparrows are coming - surprised that they're new to you

Always good to see new birds in the garden. We get less these days as a lot of trees in the garden and the other side of the fence were cleared, so I think there is less cover for them to then come and feed. Also, I had to take away the fat balls because the bits dropping to the ground attracted rats :-( The half coconuts don't seem to give this problem. It hasn't been very cold either so perhaps they aren't so desperate to come and feed.

Cover is vital to attract House Sparrows. They are very social birds who like nothing more than congregating in a thick bush or Ivy and chattering to one another. My flock numbers around 30 most of the time and when they chose my garden to chatter the noise is unbelievable.
