I saw it on the TV advert and that was that. However, after reading JooMoo's and Jacksparrow's comments I googled it and find that it's only in The Highlands !!!! Now why that should have been on the national TV ad beats me but there you go.
Today turned out to be a sad day for many of my garden birds. Along about a third of my back boundary fence is line of garages available to rent from the Housing Association. For a good number of years a rather splendid growth of Ivy has been using the back garage wall to shin up and thence over the roof. In years past this Ivy has been home to numerous Robin's nest and Blackbirds too and the berries have fed countless others. Today "men" arrived with chainsaws and a big shredder and removed it plus any other plants that happened to be between my back fence and the garages. I have no doubt the Ivy will in time recover but in the intervening period finding homes for nesting birds is going to be very difficult.
