Today I had a male Common Redpoll which was nice.
Edited to correct Redcap to Redpoll. (I blame the drink)

At FIL's on Sat 19th. He feeds the birds as well. While watching the feeders, suddenly all birds scattered and disappeared. Merlin flew in, landed on the gate for a few seconds and then flew off.

The single Redpoll turned up again today with the Goldfinches. I don't know if she's just following them or has joined the gang.

For the last few weeks a Greater Spotted Woodpecker has being feeding in the garden but I've never managed to get a shot - either gone when I got to the camera or was too dark/dull to get decent shots. However, today I managed to get some shots so here they are....
