Your Garden Hedgehogs
Re: Your Garden Hedgehogs
Hedgehog resting up for the day in one of the garden feeders. Gave it a splodge of dulux and mealworms for cooperating.
Re: Your Garden Hedgehogs
It happened again today - water dish as dry as a bone as it hadn't rained during the night and the flagstone was dry.
So, I normally have to scald the mealworm dish because of the sticky saliva of hedgie. I paid attention this morning prior to the scald and it wasn't sticky.
I reckon
has found The Caff
.
Problem now is how to keep both happy whilst not attracting any of the 93 cats in close proximity .......

Re: Your Garden Hedgehogs
I have a few coconut shells around the garden that I let fill with water (and tip out for a refresh now and again) Then if I forget to fill up the hog bowl at least they can find some more about.
The other night there were 2 quite compatible hogs eating off the feeder. The one was in it, the other going around it, but they seemed to stay nose to nose. There was no scrapping going on.

Two calling cards by the poultry feeder, which they have been making a right mess of lately - suppose the clue is in the name

Re: Your Garden Hedgehogs
There was a dead hedgehog behind the shed yesterday morning:
Its underside was perfect looking too although there was a small tick at one side. It was still warm.
It was just inside the hedge. It does make you wonder ... you feel so responsible., somehow, for the creatures visiting your garden

Re: Your Garden Hedgehogs
Very sorry, Nuthatch. Agree that you immediately feel so responsible and a little bit of guilt in there too somehow although why is another matter.
Bad luck.

Re: Your Garden Hedgehogs
A great shame Nuthatch especially as it looks well externally
. It may have eaten something poisonous but without an autopsy we'll never know.
