Nothing like beginning the day with a :wow: - no, I tell a lie, two :wow:s !!
Spotted a grey wag standing on the pool surrounds :); it ran across the lawn snapping up (presumably) little thingies for breakfast and then was from nowhere chased away by The Lodger (>>>> :squirrel:) who was obviously out for some early morning larks.
About an hour later (second wow) up in the silver birch, a chiffchaff-type . Wonderful spot - first time all season I've seen a warbler :).

:woohoo: Placi :bird2:

Funnily enough I heard and saw a chiffchaff up in one of the damson trees on Wednesday but I have only just identified it as such by the audio on the RSPB site.

I hadn't heard anything like that before in the garden and leapt out to see if I could see the bird  I did see it but couldn't identify it.

It's things like this that keep us going isn't it :rara:

A big well done to all you Chiffchaff spotters  We have reached the time of year when all our summer visitors head for sunnier climes so the chances of an unusual visitor are raised slightly.

I have a bird on my nut feeder that I haven't seen for such a long time I can't remember what it's called.
Slightly bigger than a sparrow, blueish top, creamy under, slash over the eye and pointy beak.
It'll come to me :)

It's a nuthatch.

Have a couple of pigeons coming in to the garden. Had a look in the Bible (RSPB Handbook of British Birds) but can't identify. Hopefully will get some pics to post.
