SOLAR ECLIPSE

Post by Jacksparrow »

Just a heads up in case it has passed anyone by. On the 20th March 2015 at 0930 there will be a partial eclipse. It will be 80% on mainland Britain but you need to go to the Faroe Islands for the full monty. The further north you are in the UK the better the eclipse. :)

I seem to recall one about 1998 ?? Mid-morning it became grey and really, really cold. It was a hot summer day and I had shorts on. It was quite eerie for a while.
The birds became silent - presumably they had hopped off to bed :)

Remember that one. Working, many hospital staff outside with bits of X-ray film to protect their eyes. Didn't think I would get two in my lifetime.

I remember the last one and it confused my birds enormously. They went very quiet and it seemed to take them some time to realise they hadn't had a very short night. :)

Just ordered myself some Baader sheets (sun blocking 'paper') to see if I can get a photo of it :)

My high density sun filter paper arrived!

Quick test shot without really messing about with any settings. Seems to be working well. That blob in the middle is a sunspot.
