I was unaware you had Beardies in your part of the country Greenfinch. :wow: Well done spotting them as they can be very elusive skulking around in the reed beds.
I was pleased to see a pair of LTTs in the garden today tucking into the SF hearts .

I believe they were summer visitors that have stayed on and managed to breed. :wave2:

Today, the LTT's made 4 separate visits to the feeders and there were 4 of them each time! I hope they stay around and breed again this year. It's a great sight when 9 or 10 suddenly descend on the feeders :)

Our solitary Goldfinch was on the Niger feeder for the first time this morning. I'd have thought that the Niger was past its sell by date as its been there for about 2 months :D

No LTTs since last post. Mainly Starlings, House Sparrows with occasional Great, Blue and Coal Tits. Wren is still coming in daily.

The existing one has found a spouse. Buy another big bag of nyjer seed there'll be lots of little mouths to feed  soon.

Whilst performing a swift lop in the sunshine today I found my first ladybird of the year  .
I put it back among the ivy. A red 6-spot. Lovely to see.

Is the :ladybird: the only insect allowed in the Birds topic? :D

Robin arrived when I was in the garden this morning and stayed awhile.

My blackbird arrived too right beside me - I hadn't seen him for a week or so. I can tell it's him as he's slightly leucistic on the edge of some feathers and his beak is mottled with dark patches towards the end :blackbird:
