Bodnant Gardens

Post by Germain »

I probably should put this in the travelog but I feel this is worthy of it's own post. What a fabulous place.
We went on Thursday - eldest daughter is on maternity leave and wanted to see the Laburnum Arch so we got her sister take a day off and had a day out - son in law earned his brownie points by wrangling the toddler which meant we weren't pressed for time - honestly do not feel the 5 hours spent exploring were enough and we will be going back as there are still places to explore.
There was plenty of birds and insect life - it was great fun watching fledgling blue tits and robins hunting among the shrubs by the little cafe in the dell. Swallows, Swifts and House Martin all in evidence
Missed getting a photo of a male Pied flycatcher but the best spot was from Number 2 daughter as we wandered by the stream - close to the cafe area- "Is that something, mum? " "Where? OHH! too right it is, that's a Dipper. " so proud of her spotting skills.

Lovely set of photo's Caroline, it looks a fantastic place and that Laburnum Arch is great. Envious of your dipper, I have not seen one yet this year...
