Some sunny spells am. Was raining by 2pm, and wind was winding up.

Oh dear
My tree is deceased.
That's what happens if you put an evergreen on the side of a windy hill.
We'd massively staked it a year ago and it didn't budge. Now the stakes are vertical and the tree is at a jaunty angle.

Oh noo :cry3: :tree:

JooMoo - are the stakes horizontal?

I've been chasing a wheelie bin, chair and heavy pot with a tree in it all over the place :dogrun: Even a couple of bricks had no effect on top of the bin but did on the plant pot.

I 'secured' a couple of bird feeders four times - gave up with the garden twine on one and got onto the heavy stuff :smash:  chains and the plastic coated wire. Of course most of the food just gets buffeted onto the ground anyway

We're just back in from chopping it down :(
The idea was that hubby would chop and I'd hold the rope to encourage it to fall this side of the fence. It got jammed by the fence post, then the chopping point cracked in the wrong place and it fell against the fence. So we had to saw the top off into next door's front garden, then drag it round to our drive and chop all the branches off to get it back into our garden.

The birds will wonder where it's gone :)

Oh goodness, that's tragic, JooMoo - what sort of tree was it?

Can anything useful/nice be done with some of the timber so youl'll have a part of it still around?

It was an eucalyptus (a eucalyptus?).
It was the wrong tree in the wrong spot and too close to the fence and we're planning to do a patio area there this year. It was never going to stand up there.

Hubby kept saying how nice it smelled as we were chopping it :)
