Oh wow we getting treated to 2 birds today...ahh so that's what a Ruff looks like close up, the one at the Haugh is always miles away!!! Godwit looks so smart in is summer plumage...Nice photo SM

Thanks Linda I think only the second time I have knowingly photographed a ruff, seemed to be quite a few about. I don't see many Godwit, lucky dip if it is black or bar-tailed.

Apparently if you're clever, the length of leg above the knee gives it away... short length is Bar-Tailed, longer length is Black-Tailed... I'm not clever, so it's a lucky dip for me too
