Monday 4th August

Post by PimperneBloke »

Knowing I was off Monday, after working all weekend, I kept an eye on the forecast. Thursday and Friday it said it would be mostly sunny. I planned a double dip at Portland, one of the quarries for butterflies, and Fleet lagoon for some waders, as they've started returning. It deteriorated! Significantly! So much so, that the drive on the way down was enveloped in fog. Drizzle was most definitely in the air. And, boy, was it blowy! Driech in the extreme!

I decided against the quarry (fingers crossed for tomorrow though :D) And spent an hour or so before it chucked it down on the exposed sands at Ferrybridge, with Dunlin, Ringed Plover, Turnstones and Sanderlings. Plus a couple of other odds and sods!

Looks like you made the best of it PB, I am yet to see: Dunlin, Ringed Plover, Turnstones and Sanderlings... this year :)

Thanks both, I was determined to get out, as it seemed ages since I'd been out, and despite the gloom I was quite pleased with what Lightroom managed to rescue lol. A year ago it would have been a waste of time, as I didn't shoot RAW, and everything would have turned out proper dark!
