I saw one once. It wasn't nervous and let me get quite close. Maybe it hadn't learned fear of humans (?).

OK, it wasn't in its usual habitat, a car park, but it was walking around all alone in the local precinct which is a stone's throw from the car park - a lovely little female waggie

.
We passed the time of day, as politely brought up waggies are prone to do, and I went on my way. Actually, we both went on our ways.

For some reason the music to Brief Encounter started playing in my brain while reading that.

Nice!

I have noticed an upturn in Goldfinch numbers in the last day or two. I'm assuming the natural food is getting depleted.

Taking the dog out for afternoon walk through the new estate, seen this bird fluttering around and thought was is that. Managed to get closer, no mistaking the orange tail. Was a black redstart. Tail was not as orange as I have seen before, so perhaps a female or young one. Was on its own.

Brilliant spot Willpar.

I have only ever seen one and only briefly then.
