Re: WHAT I SAW TODAY.....
I don't think I've ever seen a corvid break off a twig. I've seen a few taking a hopeful tug but usually they are searching the ground for bit and pieces.

The rooks are very busy at the moment making their nest. This year most of the nest from years previous ere blown down by the gales we had. So extra busy. But they are getting it done quite quickly. A few weeks ago no nest, now several nest have appeared. Wont be as many as there used to be, as several trees were blown down over past years.

Used to be quite a spectacle with all the nest and the noise during breeding season.

Buzzards are a common sight around where I live and I see them all the time either wheeling around overhead or in roadside trees and fields but today I had a first. I was on way to my uncles in my car when a big bird of prey flew up from the roadside carrying in it's talons what I think was a rabbit. The colouring of the bird was definitely not a buzzard but a glimpse of it's tail confirmed it was a Red Kite

Good spot JS. They are moving farther south now and have had sightings in Devon and i believe Cornwall also. So may see one myself sometime.

Buzzards are quite common here to. Nice to see, especially when they are soaring.

Most years around March I spot a Blackcap. This year is no different. I saw one drinking from the bird bath today.
