WHAT I SAW TODAY.....
Re: WHAT I SAW TODAY.....
Walked the farmers fields this morning where new planting has been done. Seen a small flock of fieldfare. Don't know if it is a bit early for them.

It depends a little on the weather where they spent the summer. I have seen reports elsewhere of them arriving in the UK. A good spot.Willpar wrote:Walked the farmers fields this morning where new planting has been done. Seen a small flock of fieldfare. Don't know if it is a bit early for them.

Last week saw first Barnacle Geese coming to Caerlaverock Reserve. There was skeen after skeen after skeen after skeen .............. There was probably around 8 - 10 thousand going over and guess what - no

Re: WHAT I SAW TODAY.....
At the moment there are around 25,000 Barnacle Geese on the Caerlaverock Reserve. This is still short of the 38,100 they had last year but there is still time according to staff. The numbers seem to increase every year.

Re: WHAT I SAW TODAY.....
Just the usual today, Starlings, House Sparrows, Robin and Wren. Tree being felled in wood by the swing park about thirty yards from the house. Interesting how they cut it down - lop off all the branches and then starting at the top cut down section after section.
