A first for me, but what i believe to be a herring gull landed in my garden twice to have some suet pellets and calci worms. It is a huge bird.

The are beautiful birds but I'm not sure I would be keen to have one as a visitor. They have a voracious appetite and are not fussy what they eat.

I saw a dead woodie by the side of a busy road, and that magpie the other day, and few other birds killed on the roads! Why are birds not moving away from the roads and are getting run over?! They at least can fly for God's sake! Its really upsetting to see them killed, seems so senseless :(

How many fledged. According to Springwatch successful fledglings are way down on last years numbers.

I am not sure how many of them fledged, I saw 2, but heard maybe few more in the shrub  . They are hiding and difficult to see, but I will definitely keep an eye on them  .

Usually when i offer live mealworms blue and great tits come in. Not this year though. it is sparrows taking all the food.

That's so good to hear Jack, I haven't seen any this year, and even my adult Robin is not around much. I have no idea what happened

On another note ... while I was cleaning under the shrub where I throw some food for birds, I saw this tiny skull :faint: , which appears to be very old and belonging to a starling

I am 100% sure it was not there before because I clean that spot regularly, so its a mystery who brought it there now and why
Its so light, weights almost nothing, and well preserved. Could it be that its from a starling that died of natural causes? Hmmmm  , very puzzling.
