101 THINGS TO DO IN A LOCKDOWN

Although technically over the lockdown denied us a few little pleasures that we had taken for granted. One of them was a visit to a little zoo locally with our grandson. We've been taking him for several years as he is mad on animals and I'll admit to finding plenty of pleasure too. We went again today for the first time since Boris allowed them to fling the doors open. Of course there we enforced changes but they had little impact on our enjoyment. Most of the usual characters were still there and we made some new animal friends. The latest of these were the Capybaras(large semi-aquatic rodents from South America seeing as you ask) They have a large enclosure and a fair sized water feature to make them feel at home. Usually they are distant and aloof and not very engaging but today with the offer of some nice freshly pulled green grass they were prepared to be friendly. I know in the grand scheme of things this is only small but it worked wonders for the well being. A little bit of normality was back.

I've seen capybaras on tv - probably D. Attenborough - I think they're very cute. Although the largest rodent in the world they sort of give off an aura of disarming haughtiness.
