Re: WHAT I SAW TODAY.....
My first fledgling of the year. A Blackbird being fed on the ground in the Bluebell patch by it's Dad.
Re: WHAT I SAW TODAY.....
Fantastic news Jack
. My blackbirds are still taking food to their babies, I suppose its not long now till they fledge
There is a small flock of starlings, around 10-12 of them, and they are taking food to their babies too
. What I saw them doing is, they would catch a worm, come to the feeder holding it in their beak, add some suet to it and take it away, sometimes they drop the worm in the suet (which I crumble for them) and than take take both, worm and suet. I guess its equivalent to human cooking
, its so sweet

Re: WHAT I SAW TODAY.....
Just seen a hawk zoom through my street. Best part about it was it followed the road at around 12 feet high, and vanished out the end.
Re: WHAT I SAW TODAY.....
I thought there was 2 pairs of blackbirds coming to my garden and taking food for their young, and this morning I got confirmation of that when both pairs came at the same time (right after I put the food out) and males got into a fight
. I guess the one that lost will have to come back later

A Sparrowhawk perhaps
My ,now resident, Magpie decided Sunday was bath day but the bathing facilities used by all the others were deemed unsuitable. Instead it selected the wildlife pond. Because of the depth it couldn't get properly in but settled for clinging onto the plant basket getting just it's chest and wings wet.
