Cows are not usually aggressive unless they have calves and you have a dog. Bulls are to be treated with extreme caution especially if they are on their own in the field. The cattle that cause the most concern are the young heifers and bullocks who can be very inquisitive and very brave if there are enough of them. I have found myself surrounded on a few occasions and my usual course of action is to make a loud shout and run in the direction of the nearest one. Each time this has resulted in them all retiring to a safer distance to try and decide what this nutter is going to do next. I'm not claiming it is foolproof but only that to date I've had a 100% success rate.

"...found myself surrounded on a few occasions" !!!!!!! Must say, I'm not one bit surprised :(.

I never said I was alone. Mrs.JS(who incidentally is not a fan of young cattle) has been known to accompany me on my countryside rambles from time to time. It's OK being unsupervised in the countryside as there's no-one to know you're misbehaving(ask Willpar).

Are you going to get David Attenborough to do the voice over for the next one?
