My neighbour once upon a time had a lovely little garden for birds full of shrubs and Lavender trees. The present owner had a massive clearout but on survivor was a splendid Holly bush. This had the best crop of berries I've seen in 20 years this winter. I use the past tense as the Blackbirds are working hard to remove the good berry crop. :blackbird:
They have also been giving my cotoneaster a good going over. I hope there will be something left if the weather turns nasty. :freezing: :snowman:

Usually at this time of year I can be sure of at least half a dozen Blackies squabbling over the goodies I put out got them but at present the best I can muster is two who quite sensibly see no point in fighting as there is plenty to go go round. :blackbird: :fence: :blackbird: :shake:

Someone and I think I know who is plundering the moss and the mud at the top end of my nature pond. The same thing happened a few years ago and the culprit was caught in the act.

This is an old photo but reflects well what is happening at present. I have only seen one visiting female and I've not seen her at work this time. The excavated hole is the biggest I've seen so there may be more than one mud plugger. The old man
