Lots of baby Sparrows today and thats my lot very very quiet feeders.

Mercifully not, Nuthatch. We rang the chappie later to find out whether he had managed to contact the owner (the bird was stamped with a number under one wing). He told us the owner had said he should wring its neck as it was no good once it had veered off course during a race, so he had done.

Talk about devastated !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Advice: Never try to do a racing pigeon a good turn - it isn't :(

My guess would be that it would have eventually returned 'home'. But maybe once they get the taste for veering off course then they're useless for racing :unsure:
