It is a shame. Happened a few years ago at Loch Garten. EJ was the resident female. She had laid eggs and an intruder came and all hell let loose and the eggs destroyed. Haven't seen an Osprey on the nest since (Loch Garten cam on a Kestrel's nest at the moment) . Hope it doesn't happen at Loch of the Lowes.

Poole Harbour nest empty. At Loch Arkaig, AIla is on the nest but just looking at the countryside. No more news from Loch of the Llowes.

CJ7 on the nest at Poole Harbour and Aila on the nest at Loch Arkaig. No sign of either bird settling down to lay. Hopefully ;laying won't be far away.

Aila changed places with Louis who then flew off. Got a good view of the egg. Looks like they have a very sunny day there.

Loch of the Lowes Visitor Centre and Wildlife Reserve

Following an incident this afternoon where disturbance by a kayaker caused the ospreys to leave their nest for over two hours, we'd like to remind members of the public not to approach or access the reserve at this time.
Our reserve is monitored 24 hours a day, including by CCTV. Access to the loch and surrounding areas of the reserve is not permitted from March - September during the breeding season. Due to years of persecution from which they are still recovering, ospreys are classed as a Schedule One species.
They are legally protected from any kind of disturbance, including during the critical period of nest building and pair bonding. Please help support the recovery of ospreys in Scotland by letting nature go about its daily business, and staying away from the loch during this critical time of year.

Louis came in with a good size fish, AIla immediately relieved his of it and flew off. Louis settle down in the nest cup and started incubating. Signs are good he will be a good Pa.
