BEES

Post by Jacksparrow »

It is this time of the year when the rowan is in bloom that my garden is subjected to a very low humming. this is from the multitude of Bumble Bees that are smothering it at present. They are mostly Tree BBs with a few White Tails to keep them company.

The attraction is the same here - bumbles, but sort of flies as well, love the rowan.

I downloaded the bee app off the Springwatch site http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b007qgm3
And found out that my bees are tree bumbles too.

Me too, JooMoo - no matter how early it is they're there - the bush is very near some ground feeders so I always feel I've got company when I'm sorting them out :D :bee:

Nice pic Mr Jacksparrow Sir :bee:

Looks like the work of ants on the patio, peregrine :ant:

The first pic - is it one or two of them there? Don't really know whether or not it's some sort of bee :(

Last night as I watched the mound on the patio something stirred beneath. Soil suddenly appeared from the hole as the occupant pushed it to the surface. This happened on three occasions but nothing appeared.

Pic 1 - I think it is only one. First dark part the head and the second dark part the thorax.
