Jacksparrow, tell me, do your aunt and uncle still have the novelty teapot ??

I am due a visit very soon so I will update later this coming week.

Agog !! Can't wait.
It's just that for some unknown reason the teapot/poltergeist thing popped into my head today and, as one does, I thought, I must ask the Cap'n if it's still there, waiting to be returned to its rightful owner.

Ooooh errrrr ....... intrigued!!

I related the story of the novelty teapot at the Last Of The Summer Wine lunch today and wasn't disappointed when it elicited a story about a Roman soldier in return.

In this neck of the woods there was a fair bit of Roman coming and going 2,000 years ago. My pal and his wife used to visit his old uncle who had built a house on a plot of land and he apparently saw a Roman soldier fairly regularly. My pal's wife could also see it but R. couldn't.
Aaaaaanyway, the old uncle died and R. inherited the land. He knocked down the old house and built another in which he and his wife lived. He still lives there.
Not long after they moved in he was clearing nettles and so on from the garden and his wife called him over to where she was on a higher piece of the garden.
"Did you see him ??" she asked. R. knew who she meant straight away. Apparently she saw the soldier standing next to R. He wasn't at all aware of the presence but he said that for a second or two he felt icy cold and he was doing manual work on a hot day.
His wife has passed away and R. has had no further intimations of anything untoward.

What a team . She saw the soldier and he felt the chill.

Visited my Aunt and Uncle today and although the presence has been relatively quiet since I last visited there have been three new "gifts" for their knickknack collection. To my amusement they have just added them to there own stuff regardless of whether they actually like them or not. I would gauge the net worth to be about 80p and the previous owner was not big into dusting so they're a long way from looking their best.
My uncle finds it all very funny especially seeing that for the last 60 years he has had loads of items go missing and only a small number returned so has his fingers crossed for something valuable being deposited.
The novelty teapot has been removed from the pride of place it had last time I visited to another room I'm not usually invited to go in.

I reckon your a and u are wise to leave the new acquisitions on show, Jacksparrow. If they are put away then the visitor might not take too kindly to having the tables turned in that it's OK for him/her/it to hide stuff but if it's the other way around then who knows what might kick off !!!
I'm beginning to get a mental image of Auntie Wainwright's shop ........
