Here's one for the pooter wizards amongst us. My Laptop is a Toshiba satellite and I'm running W10. Over the past weekend my keyboard has developed a quirk I've never experienced before. If I depress the key for ' using the shift key I should get @ but I don't I get " . Similarly if I press the number 2 key using the shift key I get @ and not " as advertised. What's going on? Can it be fixed easily? Is my pooter loosing it's marbles?
I have just lost the pound sign too but I haven't discovered where it's gone yet.

We get that at work a lot. It's usually because you have a UK keyboard layout but in the settings it's set for a US one. You just need to find the control panel for the keyboard layout and change it back to UK.

I had similar with an Acer I think: @ and " in each other's place and no key at all marked with £. I used to type out GBP.
It was such a novelty to get a £ key on the next one

Had a similar problem occur on my own laptop about a month ago and it turned out to be two keys with excess dust/whatever behind them. A spray with a can of compressed air and a brush up with a mini portable hoover solved the problem.

Thankyou all for your responses. Mysteriously the problem has righted itself overnight and all has returned to normal but I will remember what you said in case there is a recurrence.

Not a problem, just logged in with my new computer. Working ok.
