Just a heads up in case it has passed anyone by. On the 20th March 2015 at 0930 there will be a partial eclipse. It will be 80% on mainland Britain but you need to go to the Faroe Islands for the full monty. The further north you are in the UK the better the eclipse.

I seem to recall one about 1998 ?? Mid-morning it became grey and really, really cold. It was a hot summer day and I had shorts on. It was quite eerie for a while.
The birds became silent - presumably they had hopped off to bed

Remember that one. Working, many hospital staff outside with bits of X-ray film to protect their eyes. Didn't think I would get two in my lifetime.

I made DD get up and sit in the garden with me *you will experience this because I say so*
She wasn't too happy about it

I remember the last one and it confused my birds enormously. They went very quiet and it seemed to take them some time to realise they hadn't had a very short night.

Just ordered myself some Baader sheets (sun blocking 'paper') to see if I can get a photo of it

My high density sun filter paper arrived!
Quick test shot without really messing about with any settings. Seems to be working well. That blob in the middle is a sunspot.
