So, despite Mrs PB's accident, Linda demanded a trip to Bempton Cliffs from me, so I acquiesced to her demand. I arrived shortly after 9 and was on my way back to York just after 12, having spent a very pleasant morning, in mostly sunshine with a gentle breeze, that appeared to be just picking up as I left.
I took loads of photo's, but I'd frgotten how little flying the birds here do, it's mostly gliding with heads in wings not moving, so I have a number of sequences I haven't shared of 30+ photo's each, just with different bits of the sea in the background!!

Hope Mrs PB is doing better now.

Looks like you made the most of your visit PB. Great to see the tree sparrows and a good selection of sea birds. I have not seen a puffin, probably since my last trip to Bempton some years ago...

Fabulous Fabulous Fabulous ....Linda never demands often but this one really was a must...Gannet photos are just insanely brilliant....and you managed a few wee puffins

Thanks Snappy. Mrs PB is slowly driving me insane.... I mean is on the mend, but keeps trying to do too much, considering her wrist needs to be kept straight until the follow up appointment on Wednesday. She says she feels like a fraud, as she doesn't feel unwell. But I'll suddenly hear an expletive or two and a sharp intake of breath as she moves it wrong!
I think I've only seen the Tree Sparrows there and Welney, so always a delight. The Puffins were difficult to spot, probably only half a dozen or so, and when they were on the water they're nearly 200m away!

Thanks Linda, I really wasn't sure about going, but Mrs PB assured me she'd be fine. I left her with ready popped from the packet pain pills, and the lid of the coffee jar unscrewed (and helped her get dressed etc). I think the next trip north, if its the right time of year, will be Northumberland for the Farne Islands to get some decent closer shots of the puffins.

I must admit am swithering whether to make a wee day trip down to seahouses for a boat trip again myself....other half didn't enjoy the last one...seeeeesick

I've only been to Bempton once. your great photos brought back a lot of memories.

The Tree Sparrows are the little stars there and were the first ones I'd ever seen until 2 days later when I saw literally a treefull at Bridlington.
