You may be wondering what happened to the 19th, Day 3.... well that was a day out in Cambridge, with only phone pics of some stunning stained glass, and the like.

There is a Welney Flood Watch Facebook page... they posted this Wednesday morning:




So there were reports of road closures on 20th, and not knowing which roads the reports referred to, we decided to stay at the now even more flooded WWT site rather than head to Titchwell Marsh. It was a beautiful sunny day, and there were a few different species spotted, so in all it was another good day

A tad damp then PB... As you say another good day photographing. The pintail was a good spot, I don't recall ever seeing any their. Lovely set of photo's

Thanks Snappy. Yep, just a tad lol. I was watching a black-backed gull, and saw something bobbing about beyond it... it took a while to get the lens on it! I only saw the one Egyptian Goose, and then only because it flew in whilst I was watching, if it had been in already and just bobbing about I don't think I'd have spotted it. And the Kestrel I spotted as we came out of the observatory, it was just above the fence, towards the bridge. People coming the other way looked bewildered as I was wielding the big lens lol

Very high standard. That Brownie Box camera of yours certainly does the business.

You made the right choice staying put PB, blue sky and lots to photograph, kestrel has to be the stand out pic for me as it's been sooooo long since av seen one here.

Thanks Jack, but I think I've told you, it's not about the £'000's I've spent on equipment... it's all about MEEEeeeeeeeee!!!

Thanks Linda, I think you're right about staying put Just show's how much luck is involved in spotting stuff, if we'd left the hide 5 seconds later we'd never have even known the kestrel had been there!
Not sure where next holiday is, we're thinking Yorkshire, which could include Bempton

Oh is that a spring time visit to Bempton, then? A think a wanna visit St Aidans this year as ILR still sends me photos of his visits and that little owl is just adorabubble

Probably June ish, because I'd like to do the boat trip from Bridlington to get sea level views of the Gannets diving... but we're also thinking Northumberland (for Farne Islands) or Scottish Islands for the eagles etc, and of course Galapagos, Ecuador, Brazil, The Gambia, safari in South Africa

How far is St Aidans for you?

I take it that list is still growing as we speak....wish list and wishful thinking list

Oh St Aidans is on about 3 and half hrs drive so no that far
