Hi everybody!
I finally bought a used Nikon Coolpix B500 in immaculate condition (although I would have prefered black over plum). Well some people say this model isn't exactally perfect but it is a good start anyway. I ordered a new soft camera bag, two SD cards and a stative today.
I have about 285 € into everything all total including the price of the camera.

(Shown in the hand of the previous owner.)

The cards should also be good for videos.

The bag has a lot of room and grey goes good with plum.

The stative is also not bad.

Might be worth adding a spare battery, Charles... in case you have a really busy day

Nothing worse than something unusual happening, or coming in to view, and your battery dies.... Happened to me so often I now have 3 batteries, even if I'm just in the garden

Thanks Linda!
Now I' have to learn all of it's functions and quirks. Then I can take it out on a bike-hike over the field path south of me. Maybe I'll see some different birds for a change. The 'Pieps-ah, Pieps-ah Pieps' here is indeed driving me mad!

Indeed I never trust batteries at all and always carry a pocket full. Luckily this camera has four AA batteries and I heard a set of 'Duracells' are good for 600 photos: Ha! Maybe if you never zoom and keep the display turned off!
I'm also undecided about what batteries I'll use:
Heavy duty alkalines, rechargable Ni-Mh's (although they only supply 1.2 Volt each and may have slightly different lengths

), or Lithiums which give off 1.6 Volts and are possibly too high.
The manual in internet says it can also use Lithiums but was that an edit update? I doubt there were Lithium AA's in 2016 when these cameras first came out.
Getting this all perfect will be a quest like 'Finding the Holy Grail' or 'Pulling the sword out of a stone!' Haha!

I use Duracel Rechargables which seem to work and last quite well.
Don't bother with Alkalines as they are short lasting.

Thanks William! I don't have it in my hands yet and now must patiently wait for its delivery.

Thanks JS! I just ordered 8
Duracell Rechargeable Ultra AA's for my Coolpix plus 12 Varta Long Life AA's and 12 Varta Long Life AAA's for other household purposes.
The Duracell Rechargeable Ultra AA's took some searching to find because my two electronics part dealers and my usual camera shop didn't carry them. Nobody stocks everything. But this other other camera shop had them and at least I got free shipping. Soon packages will be flying at me like the Tits from all directions!
