Red deer up in the Peaks yesterday. Some with antlers well on the way and some who will have to wait a few more years. 3 months-ish for the start of the rut and it getting busy up there. In the meantime it's nice just be be alone, in the most part, with them. The fawns (or calves) are just starting to appear dotted around in the high undergrowth but the hinds tend to keep them well away from nosey passer-bys such as myself

Shame the sun was behind them SnappyMac in the first but still nice to watch.

It's great up there PB, not just for the deer.

Guarding the entrance to a field up in the Peaks this morning. Not quite as intimidating when they are less point and still have the velvet.

This was on the Longshaw estate that Springwatch set up camp this year. They do come off the moors on to the estate or set up camp there year round. Wild as you like and I love to see them in woodlands... so much more intimate. When they rut though most will take back to the moorland and stake their claim.

Challenging conditions up on the local moors this morning but nice to see a little spotted calf. There were also three long eared owls all together but too far off with the poor light (which was a shame to say the least).
