Placi, I was wondering if you could get some help from some of the volunteer operations that have sprung up to help those for whom traipsing off to the supermarket is not an option. Circumstances are taking us outside our comfort zones so there is no shame in asking for a little help.

Well now that that's out of the way, what I intend to do is have a word with my next door (I do a Sainsbury online order for her) and sort of add some stuff to her order which has to be placed this week. I guess There's Always A Way.

I was refreshing all day to get a Sainsburys delivery slot for my mum. They eventually released a day at 4.45 and the slots were all gone in 10 minutes flat!

I pleased to hear you have a solution to hand. No doubt your grateful neighbour will feel obliged to lob a few goodies over the fence into your garden. Get the wicket keeping gloves out in case she has a good arm

Back in the good old days (a fortnight ago) when slots were available, twice I got up - at 2 am and 3 am - to book deilveries.
But now of course, those days are over, but Sainsburys still do it.

..... and now for some good news -
Councils up and down the country have suspended roadside mowing so Nature preservers are getting excited because wild flowers, both rare and common, will flourish in these 'mini-meadows' thus benefiting bees, bats and birds.

Quite right too. The only excuse for mowing was that it improved the visibility for road users. Very much less traffic so no need.

During what passes for normal time the Ambulances are kept busy both by victims of RTAs and patients complaining of suspected heart attacks or strokes. The A & E staff are slightly puzzled as all three categories are now becoming rare events. The RTAs have dried up because there is so little traffic but the other two One theory is that people with heart attacks or strokes are thinking they'll take their chance at home rather than end up in a hospital full of covid19 patients.

Now that's a coincidence - I was wondering whether 'normal' emergencies requiring high-speed dashes to A & E had lessened. I'm inclined to agree that a visit to hospital right now is maybe more dangerous than staying at home and waiting to see whether that unexpected pain worsens.
Maybe though that's adding to the burden on GPs being called out to someone's home ?
