With the Ebola outbreak?

Yes. Airlines are stopping now. Isolation is the only possibility.

Not unsurprisingly my thoughts have been on that book too. The way ebola is spread is very much like that of the Black Death but the symptoms are a bit different(those being reported that is). As long as the ebola virus doesn't mutate with something else we should be OK.

Why should we be OK, Jacksparrow ?? People in Sierra Leone, Liberia and now Nigeria aren't OK.

OK I was being a little laid back there. All things are possible but from what I have read and what has been said on the box I came to the conclusion that as I was not going to west Africa and unlikely to meet anyone who had come from there so my(and those around me) chances of succumbing to Ebola were somewhat remote. I will, however, remain vigilant and if I see anyone looking remotely west African approaching cross to the other side of the street or if confrontation is inevitable reach for my surgical mask which I keep constantly about my person.

My Scottish grandfather fought all the way through the 1914-1918 War in The KOSB. He fought in the disastrous blood-soaked Gallipoli campaign amongst others.
He was a taciturn man who got royally drunk every weekend until he was very old because then he could sleep at night.

While we're at it, I had a cousin in The DLI who was killed on D-Day+26. He was shot in the back by the Americans who were behind the British troops.

Both my Grandfathers survived the Great War which included serving in the thick of it in France. Both of them died when I was young so I never had the chance to discuss their experiences but from what I have been told neither wanted to recall what had gone on. It certainly didn't drive them to drink but neither saw their 60th birthday.
I have read a fair bit about the causes of the war and how the British became involved so it is a testament to all the people who volunteered without question to get involved with the fighting.
