Yesterday a m. chaffinch visited for lunch :). Today the same one (I presume) revisited, this time with a lady friend. They both had lunch :pot: :yummy:

Am still seeing swallows darting around. Seems they were gathered in one place this morning. Darting about for food.

When they start to gather they are preparing for the journey south. Wave :wave2: bye-bye to them for the rest of us.

Lots of work in the garden just lately. I am being stalked by a Robin! He always appears when I start digging. He's been hopping around on the wheelbarrow and on a spade handle - and I hadn't got a camera with me. It's been a good excuse to go in the house and have a cuppa, whilst he mops up all the worms.
Loads more to do next weekend and I'll have a camera handy !

What I saw today was quite amazing, never seen it before a coal tit I think taking a sunflower heart then hiding it , not once but to many to record, anyone else seen this before.

Big clap  for jenny wren

Yes, I've seen the coal tit behaviour of storing up sunflower hearts for winter. At our old house there was a very small very old garden wall and one year a coalie spent weeks tucking away the sunflowers. It was so intent on its purpose that I used to sit on the floor in the conservatory just a foot away from the wall and watch it in closeup so to speak.
And, big bonus, during the winter it came back and gradually retrieved the seeds.
Only ever happened once. Coalies must have the same mental map mechanism as squirrels.
