Gardencam Got his last night. I suspect the smaller one is a last year juvenile. Don't know if it would be fertile yet.

When I get this hedgehog home on Friday afternoon what do I do with her until it gets dark? Will she be sleeping, do you think ... or trying to get out of a box?

Just keep it in a box in a quiet place until it gets dark nuthatch.

I spotted my first Calling card of the year today. It's good to know they're still around.

When I collect my new-comers, I bring them into the utility room in the box they travelled in, then just before it gets too dark, I take it to just outside one of my hog houses and just tip the box onto its side. I'll make sure there's water and food nearby, then resist keeping going out to check on it. It might like your garden, it might scarper, never to be seen again. As long as it knows there'll be food there it will hopefully return.

If you do sneakliy watch it, you might see it anointing itself

Had to look that one up, JooMoo - hadn't heard of that - self annointing - I'll now know nothing's wrong if I see it happening

They get into a bit of a strange position and mess.
I believe they lick a new smell, then put their bubbly saliva all over themselves as far as they can reach - which is further than you'd expect.
