Well done placi. I crunch up fatballs now and again. Birds seem to like that.

For unknown reasons the consumption of the food I supply has dropped off. They are still coming but not so often it seems. I'm supposing someone nearby has a better offer.

My mob's fave tasty at the moment is soaked-overnight-sultanas. Must be the novelty value 'cos there are still berries on the pyrawotsits and hawthorns.
Haven't noticed any drop-off in demand, quite the reverse if anything.

I hardly saw any birds until the rain stopped mid afternoon. It looks like I'll clearing out soggy food from the feeders yet again.

As predicted I've spent a couple of hours de-clagging my 8 port feeder today with my 6 port waiting in the wings for it's turn. Fortunately I have spare feeders to fill the breech for the 6 port so no birds have gone hungry so far.

A labour of lurve, Jacksparrow

.
With all this unaccustomed December heat the birds aren't exactly ravenous - the consumption of my mob has dropped somewhat. S'pose the hedgerows are still providing, and they're not losing energy due to freezing conditions.
They're still enjoying the sultanas though

.

food consumption is only moderate at present. The absence of any really cold weather is giving the birds an easy time for the time being but there is plenty of time left for snow and ice.

S'pose we're bound to get it sooner or later but at least the winter is halfway through

I filled my feeder with nuts, suet and sunflower seeds 2 weeks ago and they've hardly touched it. I think they go through phases of eating certain things at certain times depending on the weather. On another day they'd be here every 10 minutes. Curious. I'd love to know what they're eating now instead. Maybe early berries? Or they have plenty of winter fat on so they burn through that a little bit.

Berries that are available at present are the remains from autumn 2019 plus the Ivy berries are currently turning black. In general this winter, so far, has been mild so our birds have not been desperate and therefore able to pick and choose. Only time will tell our offerings turn out to be the difference between life and death .
