Placido wrote:(rubs hands) Right !!! ........... 2 weather tales about Scotland:

Was in Drymen one May (south shore of Loch Lomond) and due to drive to Mull that morning. Drew curtains at The Buchanan Arms (wee plug there :D) and it was snowing . Panicked !!!!!!!!!
We were all for cancelling the journey, which involves driving across The Rest And Be Thankful - errrrr, how can I put it, 'picturesque' at the best of times, when someone suggested 'phoning the hotel on Mull to see how deep it was there.
Did so and the chappie didn't know what I was talking about: beautiful sunny morning here, quoth he.
So we went, crossed TR&BT (still snowing), caught the ferry in Oban, sunny and calm, and enjoyed a superb holiday on Mull.

Was in a timeshare place at Kinloch Rannoch (you can rent for a week but they try to get you to buy - no thank you), right on the shore of Loch Rannoch, facing south. This was in early April and it was hot. The national news said that Fort William, about 40 miles as the crow flies, was the hottest place in Europe !!
One of the days we were there, knock at the door (we were on the balcony, paralysed by the heat) and it was one of the young chaps trying to sell apartments. I complained spectacularly that there was no air conditioning. He was quite taken aback and said, "It's no' always this hot" in a defensive and aggrieved tone.
That sentence, "It's no' always this hot", entered Fambly folklore for many years to come .
Was all this before you settled in the Wee Glen?

No, no; we were on furlough (R&R) from duty in The Wee Glen. We had passes permitting us to roam :P

White with frost here first thing. Even the puddles had ice on them. But was nice and sunny all day, although on the cool side.
