That's odd, exactly the opposite pertains here - my Mostest for a couple of weeks now are magpies
, not encouraged. The rest of The Mob seem to have been on extended hols

How strange. Perhaps they are incubating and just visiting in the early hours of the day.

I seem to have cornered the market for starlings and sparrows at the moment. Get a few blue tits when the coast is clear.

Lots of starlings at my feeders, food disappears in minutes
. Jackdaws seem to like the place too, so they are coming for a bite too, but not staying long. Really interesting and good looking birds, but not sure if its a good thing having them around other birds. They don't seem to mind them though, not friendly, but they all stay and eat
. Its really strange that I don't get sparrows, I only had one single one around the feeders
. Great/blue/coal tits are busy feeding their young too, seen them taking beakfulls of suet away

Just to see if I could do it, and how well it turned out I have made a jar of peanut butter for the birds. I never had whole peanuts but I did have granules. So I roasted them for just over 10 minutes turning them once half way through. Then put them into the processor and Kept going until I had very fine granules. Put in a small amount of veggie oil and gave it hell again. Went a lot smoother then. So it would set a little I added a small amount of suet granules. Then some mealworms and gave it another spin or two. Poured it into the jar and added whole mealworms to fill the jar. Gave it a mix around and now waiting for it to set.
May need refining a bit, but if successful will no doubt do it again. See how it goes down with the birds first. Once it cools will put it out.

An interesting experiment but the main test is whether the intended recipients will eat it. If not flog the recipe to Tescos,you never know you might be onto a winner in the sandwich stakes.

Well the birds voted with their beaks. Ate all the homemade peanut butter, or took it back to feed the young. Have made another jar for tomorrow. Don't take long to knock up either.

Going down well so far placi. To buy the jars are around £2:40 a pop, and this time of year last less than a day. As it was I had ten in stock but all gone now. Am saving quite a bit by doing my own. So will do another this evening after tea while the oven is still hot.
