I have just replaced my back garden bird feeders with a new 5 hook station.

The main benefit of a single station is that it limits where the dropped food is located. We all look forward to your excellent photos showing the new kit in action.

Sure will. I can sit there just watching tjem for ages. Very relaxing.

It is indeed, that's what I do and many times I find myself running late because of that, and I can't exactly say "oh I'm late because I was watching birds eat"

Now that the colder weather has come along I guess more birds will find the nearby feeders.

Lots of birds just now cannot keep them going with sunflower sees but not alot of sturks and only the odd Blackbird .

I've been away for 6 days and filled the feeders as soon as I got back home today. Glad to see that great/blue/coal tits came to eat strait away, as well as couple of doves and pigeons. Starlings were missing however, only few were there. But I suspect they are not far and their friends let them know that the buffet is back in business . We shall see tomorrow

It has become apparent that the birds visiting the chateau garden are consuming more and more food now that the short days are with us. Mt flock of sparrows seem rarely out of earshot and the Goldies are spending a good deal of time on the SF hearts.
I feel guilty each time I go into the garden and disturb them as I know the daily feeding opportunity is limited to 6 hours of daylight.

Same here Jack, I feel guilty when I have to go out in the garden and disturb the birds. But they seem to know me now and know that I'm not the threat, and in fact they think I'm the waitress , so they quickly come back. Starlings are back in their usual numbers, so are the pigeons and doves. In addition, there is lots of regular great/blue/coal tits stuffing their faces, mainly with SF hearts which is really lovely . My robin behaves in a weird way though, I see him every day, but only briefly, and he doesn't eat from his tray, really odd
