Blimey, here I am just past 9pm on a Sunday and there is a knock on the door. Suet balls I ordered on Friday have duly arrived.

If any section of society has gained from Covid, it's online shopping. Not just food but everything.

Online shopping have probably not been this busy ever. And helping out the economy more than people realize.

There was a time not that long ago I swore I'd never succumb to the lure of on-line shopping even though I am no big fan of trudging around the shops. after series of disappointments from various local suppliers I have found myself drawn in to the on-line shopping web. There is seldom a time when I can't get whatever I want delivered to my door within a couple of days. The choice is infinite and the prices usually competitive. The other point is that I like I can read other peoples opinions of a product I like the look of and draw on their conclusions to help make my mind up. I sometimes browse the website of a supplier then go to the shop to make the actual purchase. It saves the old legs and shortens the period of time I waste looking around.
On-line shopping is with us forever and the trick for the High Street shops is to have a foot in both camps.

I think you are right jacksparrow. I must confess though, that I have not been in my city centre, shopping, for 14 years. I only do grocery shopping in person now adays. But I think that during the lockdown, thousands of people have probably tried online shopping for the very first time. And found just how easy and convenient t is. Getting those people back into the shops, could be a tough nut to crack. But yes I agree, people with shops need to look into two outlets for their goods, their shop and the internet.

Thing is, I reckon most High Street shops order online the goods that they sell ! It works both ways.
I'm a huge fan of online shopping, it's the only way I get stuff nowadays. Not a fan of trailing around half a dozen shops just to get a new t-shirt .
And I agree that the "Reviews" are an invaluable source of information which influences whether to buy or not to buy a particular item. That vital tool applies to food just as much as, say, a book or a new frying pan .

My strategy is to begin the hunt with Amazon and continue from that baseline, armed with the info I glean from there. But it's hard to beat Amazon for delivery time. Ordered at 8pm on a Tuesday (before the virus was ever dreamed of) and delivered early on the Thursday morning. I mean, what more can you ask for ??

Right now - it used to be called "Whitsun" - 30 years ago, we were on the Isle of Skye in a self-catering pine lodge. I got talking to the lady who was in charge of the complex about eagles, and she said quite matter-of-factly that they got loads of eagles. She turned to a fence and said that the eagles sat on the fence and watched her hang out the washing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
