I believe this is their second sitting on the nest, first time predated by Jackdaws. Water levels in the reservoir have dropped tremendously over the last month. Hopefully they are just inexperienced young birds and will have many years of success after this year. I fear this nest will fail - lots of Jackdaws still about and there are definitely Stoats in the area. The only good thing is that the Gulls that use the reservoir as a safe roost during the winter all seem to ne off breeding themselves.

House Sparrow (Passer domesticus) - We saw the first juvenile sparrows yesterday. This one has managed to catch an insect.

Back at the Haugh this morning watching the Sedge Warblers yet again and then decided to walk through wild meadow field back up hill and saw a meadow pipit....or scared the bejeeeez out it 😳 well it was hiding in the meadow....isn't it ironic...dontcha think 😆
