They usually lay about 8-10 so it may be a little while before incubation commences.
I just had a closer look at that picture and I think there's also one at the very top in the shadows, one on the left too and maybe one on the far right.

Definitely 11 in there now.
It's amazing to watch because this is the bit Springwatch never show you. They're very unsettled birds. She sleeps for only a minute or two at a time with her head under her wing, wakes up, rummages a bit, turns them over and then sleeps for another couple of minutes!

I was lucky to tune in today when they were feeding them dinner, and omg! They, both parents, did a great job! They kept coming with food until all babies fell into food coma and were not even opening their beaks any more but just wanted to sleep

. Than the mum came to stay with them and started tidying the nest and turning them. I felt tired just watching her do it for ages

. So lovely to watch

Brian May was on the radio today and he mentioned this programme. I also note that he is a big supporter of the Badger which is the only real enemy of the Hedgehog other than humans.
