I always thought it was "Three for a letter" but reading Greg's version I googled it and both appear in different versions. I think it said there are 14 versions

Edit: Sorry for all the "versions"

1st day of the new year and I have seen my first blackcap in the garden. Was eating from a home made fat tub I put up. Melted some lard and added crushed dried mealworms, peanut nibbles and pin head oats. Been up over a week but never seen anything on it. But today I noticed there were marks in it. Is up against my pyracantha hedge.

Wonderful beginning, Willpar  . Love blackcaps - s'pose it's the rarity value.

Congratz on the pied wag, Jacksparrow.
I haven't had a visitation so far this winter. Hoping though.

Whilst waiting to photograph some of the birds on the new feeder I noticed that we have 2 female Bullfinches. This is good news, a pair (M & F , obviously), - bred last year and they used to bring a juvenile male and female to the feeders. So a least one of the juveniles survived. Up to now we only knew of a male and female.
For the past 2 years, we only saw 1 juvenile male survive towards the end of the year and by the time breeding season started it had vanished. We like to think it had moved on.
I wonder if this extra female will hang around and breed. We'd love to have more of them, it's surprising, the people who ask what they are when they see them.

Here's the male taken last year - I printed it at A3 and have it framed.
