Two pairs Blackbirds trying to take over the garden. They are noisy devils.

Today an orange tip butterfly was gently fluttering along about a foot off the ground when a male blackbird ran across the lawn and made two determined attempts at catching it. The bird just jumped up twice, no flight, and the butterfly merely fluttered on and continued with its little life. 1 : 0, and that was the end of that.
Haven't seen that before, a bird having a pop at a low-flying butterfly but I once saw a gang of sparrows literally tear a dragonfly apart, about 10' up in the air.

I had a Mrs. Blackbird in the garage today. It happens occasionally at this time of year and I'm not sure why  I opened the big garage door but this offer of freedom was ignored so I grabbed my net for the ponds and managed to catch her against the window amidst much complaining and released her.

Oh .. had she got in through a window or smaller door Jacksparrow? ... had she been in there some time?

Perhaps she was hiding from the children for a few minutes
