Rained all morning here. Quite sunny by tea time.

Just to continue with my weather related rant. I'm reproducing an item from our local paper, which sort of sums it up

THE language of doubt. Next time you see a news report warning of climate catastrophe, count the number of words and phrases expressing uncertainty. This week, for example, the Daily Telegraph headlined a lengthy report: “Big Freeze on the Way thanks to El Nino.” The actual news report was nowhere near so confident. It included the following terms, in order of their appearance: “could, could, tends to, can cause, sometimes, too early to be certain, impossible to be certain, could, maybe, may shift, usually, could.” In other words, they don't know.

I can see clearly now, the rain is gone ....

Headlines such as that shown by Greg above are, I believe, supposed to sell newspapers. Well, print medium folk, they are a definite turn-off as far as I'm concerned and instantly steer me away from publications which deliberately choose to pitch at the lowest level. Don't like cynical patronisation.

And here's another thing !!!!! Next time around I want to be a weatherperson. It's the only job I know where you can regularly get it spectacularly wrong in front of 80 million people time after time and not get the sack.

Ahem ..... it's not raining but it's very dull and 55F.

Suppose to have been showery here today, but they could pop up anywhere. So forth I went on my morning constitutional, 20 minits from home and the heavens opened up. I got soaked and had to change when I got home.

I have learnt to treat weather forecasts as a guide only. Anything forecast for more than 24 hours ahead is a best guess based on previous experience although they seem to leave the guessing to a huge computer nowadays which tends to get all the blame when things go awry. The whole "El Nino" effect is a completely natural occurrence that has been happening for millennia and has nothing to do with global warming. The last time it happened in 2010 we had an early onset of winter weather so everyone has got it into their heads it will be the same this time. It might well be and then again maybe not, I don't know and neither does anyone else with or without a giant computer. I'll stick to feeling my seaweed. I'm off to the coast shortly to get a fresh piece with more up to date information.

Should have felt your seaweed first Willpar

So why can't they get a piece of seaweed and examine and dissect it, analyse it's weather forecasting properties, then get a computer to ........................ No! I'm off dreaming again, it couldn't be that simple ... could it !
