Hello Squirrel ~ glad to hear you have robins nesting .


Saw my first baby robin today. Didn't look young, in fact I'm sure I could detect a glimmer of red on its breast. Hope to make a closer acquaintance.

Its a long time since i saw a Robin.

My robin's are visiting the feeder every 10 minutes. They must have a lot of little uns to feed.

Feeding Rambo on the patio in the pouring rain this morning and suddenly a youngster alighted on the p. wall. Rambo didn't react so I'm thinking this must be Rambo II. He didn't stay though which was a shame.
I'm sure he'll be back ......

Probably checking how much later breakfast would be.

Who knows with such contrary little creatures. I handed him the menu which is when he flew away .

My 2 sons have a baby robin visiting their small garden with a high fence. The baby robin is quite safe there as there are no cats. The mother robin appeared after about 10 mins and called to it to come home for tea!! Off they flew together. Baby robin was back about half an hour later alone again.

My robins are still nesting in the ivy at the front of my house with the woodpigeon. The baby woodie fledged yesterday!!! I saw it in the cherry tree in the front garden - quite small and healthy looking. It watched me cutting the front lawn. One of the robins stands on vigil almost constantly on the telephone lines outside my house waiting for it's next instruction. It is constantly getting suet pellets from the coconut shell in the hanging basket in the back garden.

I think the robins must fledge soon as this weekend seemed to be the fledging weekend near me. Baby sturks by the dozen arrived on Friday and the Great tit babies from the back garden nest box fledged yesterday too - I missed them, but the box was empty I think in the evening and was noisy for at least a week prior to that!! Also baby Goldfinches arrived today with parents.

In the week when I was on nights, a man came asking me if he could cut my trees back and strim the ivy on the front of the house - for a price of course!! I said no, as there are nesting birds. He seemed intent on talking me into it. I thought if he was a proper tree surgeon he would know that it is illegal to cut hedges and trees with nesting birds. How he expected the Woodie and Robin nests to survive cutting the ivy back on the house I don't know!! It makes me shudder to think of the their little nests crashing down on the path. The house looks a bit unruly with all the ivy going mad on the front, but the birds love it!! I will try to tame it later this year when the birds stop nesting.
