Hi Linda! Comparing him to an aircraft, I would say he has both flaps set down for a landing.

We did a standoff 1st then I raised the camera and that's wit happened

Mostly too far away when I have seen one flying Linda. I did get a closer view when I had left my camera behind though Nice to at least get an id photo.

If a was there myself a would just have written it off as a bird of prey but was in the hide with a guy in the know, lapwings were extremely high up which is another indicator he said. Only the 2nd time I have seen one at the Haugh
