Went out early this morning - drove the car early this morning. Two Firsts before 7.30 am
. Last time was 18 March.
Half a tank of petrol has evaporated since the middle of March so I went to my local filling station. The roads were empty, the
two (!) guys in the kiosk were very friendly and chatty. We had a laugh. The place was empty.
I really did enjoy the trip - when you're locked up and suddenly break free it's very liberating. There comes a point at which you simply have to start living your life again - even though I broke the strictures which have been laid upon me.
If I succumb within the next 7 days then so be it; it's almost worth it.

I'll admit to doing some driving during the lockdown other than the weekly trip to Tescos. My Uncle required a few bits and bobs to keep provisioned as his village shop was struggling to cope with demand. It is only a 12 mile round trip but it kept my eye in. Yesterday I ventured down the motorway to get the car serviced and it seemed really strange to be in the middle of motorway pace traffic after such a long lay off.

It's surely got to extend beyond "on public transport" though, otherwise it's a rather pointless exercise.
At what point in the journey to the bus stop or the railway station does a prospective passenger don the mask: before or after they have walked along the road, nipped into the supermarket for a sandwich, had a chat with a socially distanced neighbour, bought a ticket at the station .....
Is there any instruction as to when the mask must be in place ?
And it is quite common to see folk on TV wearing a mask which covers only the mouth

The way I seen it was that you must have the mask in place, before you get on bus/train/plane.

I agree - I think it has to be that way, or it's a waste of time
.
As the lockdown is loosened, people have to be even more careful.

I heard someone commenting the other day on the radio suggesting that the wearing of masks was showing respect for your fellow human beings. Showing them that you respect their right not to be infected by yourself which I thought was a better way to look at it.

Yes, the WHO has done a complete reverse-ferret on face masks. First of all they were useless, then they might be 6% effective, now they're becoming compulsory !!
They said that the general population shouldn't buy them 'cos all global supplies were desperately needed for workers at the sharp end. However, I've bought a pack of 5 on the grounds that when I get my hospital check-up appointment, no way am I going into our local hospital without a mask on. No way, Pedro.
So, now that the WHO has pronounced a 180-degree turn do we all make them ourselves ?? Or will another instruction be issued that it's suddenly OK to buy masks?
It doesn't exactly inspire confidence, does it ?!?!
